Piccolo Taormina - Berlin

We stumbled on this restaurant when visiting Berlin. Situated around the corner from our hotel, we went in not expecting much as the outside looked a little basic. As we walked through the doors however we were taken by the fact all staff were fully Italian, a good sign.

We soon learnt that this is a family run restaurant and has been going for 35 years. That's no surprise as the ingredients are fresh, local, and delicious. The decor is a bit muddled, lots of colour and art dotted around, however the quirkyness is part of the fun.

It is also lovely to see the chefs toss the Pizza Dough and roll out the Calzones right before your very eyes. The open kitchen adding an element of theatre to dinner.

Who would have thought we'd get better Italian food in Germany than we did in Rome?
